Course Outline
Understanding the basic elements and principles of Design which forms the bedrock of understanding and creating endearing interiors. Application of this understanding. This includes Elements of Design, Principles of Design and Spatial Organisation.
This is an extension and application of Design Theory where ones learns the steps involved in designing and planning spaces by understanding the space, it’s function, utility etc.
Apart from the site conditions and client requirements there are other design considerations like…..Interior Design Styles (includes brief history), climatological and environmental influences, ecological responsibility, etc.
We use words to communicate thoughts and ideas. How to communicate ones ideas of design? We do it by drafting our ideas into drawings using specific instruments. Learning to use these instruments to effectively communicate through drawings. This is manual. This includes drafting basic 2D and 3D drawings, Sketching, Drawing Perspectives, rendering, presenting completed designs, labelling, dimensioning, scaling, understanding measurements, etc.
This is about learning Human scale and comfort….as most of the interiors are designed for human use and comfort.
Learning about materials used for construction, both in interiors and Architecture. Understanding their application and sustainability. Studying the materials trends. Sourcing of materials and their pricing.

Vaastu is the ancient Indian Shastra of creating dwellings and other structures used by People which are in sync with Nature and its energies.
Hands on projects helps students to understand their topics better, to help them there are Presentations, small design projects, lateral thinking and visualization workshops, some basic skill training, participation in competitions, etc.
The students have to design a Residence for a Client (real or Imaginary) and present it to an internal Jury in the form of an internal Viva.
The Students have to design and present a commercial Project to an internal Jury in the form of an internal Viva.
